"Preserving the Past for the Future"

All About Town - September 30, 2017

On Saturday, September 30th, more than 100 people attended All About Town, a free talk series hosted by Preservation Warrenton. Four guest speakers were at various locations in downtown Warrenton, beginning at 10 am. The 20th Anniversary Event concluded with a 4-5 pm reception at the historic Jacob Holt House.

During the morning attendees examined Warren County relics excavated by the N.C. Dirt Detectives. Vaughan native Dr. James Clark shared his lifelong fascination of Nathaniel Macon.

Two afternoon talks were also educational and informative. Warren County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Craig Hahn enlightened the audience about the Rosenwald Schools in the county. Michael Williams shared about his personal experiences of genealogical research. Mr. Williams is the current Warren County Schools’ Teacher of the Year.

Preservation Warrenton plans to promote another series of talks next year. The community was most supportive of the September 30th event. Carrying forth the motto, “Preserving the Past for the Future,” the organization strives to provide framework for understanding and appreciating the people and circumstances that have brought us to this time and inspiration for moving forward in community.
